According to the Cambridge dictionary, the definition of common sense is “the basic level of practical knowledge and judgement that we all need to help us live in a reasonable and safe way”; or according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “sound and prudent judgement based on a simple perception of the situation or facts”.

However, haven’t we all been in situations nowadays where we found or felt that common sense isn’t as common anymore?

Here at Security Common Sense (SCS), we believe that the common knowledge and understanding required to achieve common sense has been diluted due to the myriad sources of information that people subscribe to nowadays.

What used to be common practical information has now been convoluted by social media where everyone has a voice, a difference of opinions, different perceptions, and even what is considered fact.

As such, the information and misinformation overload has caused people to lose touch with what is real or fake, true or false, and in general, common sense.

SCS will attempt to curate and consolidate information, in the areas of digital and physical security, and share it with people especially in Singapore, to achieve a common set of knowledge and understanding so as to achieve common sense.
